"iPhone security concerns are overblown"

iPhones executives we’re told by security companies to stay away from the iPhone. Security analyst Andrew Jaquith’s answer: “I think it has been exaggerated.”

Jaquith says that there in fact are reasons to keep the iPhone out of private enterprise but that they are not security reasons. Rather they are policy decisions that could exist for a number of reasons other than security.

He also mentions the inevitable: companies are not likely to keep the iPhone out. While the companies may not give the phone to it’s employees, some of them will surely buy it themselves.

And why would they want to stay away from the iPhone? It’s an easy to use tool that will boost individual creativity. It’s revolutionary, historical and brings us closer to technological integration.

It might not be “enterprise ready” in the eyes of veteran security experts but we have to look beyond the skepticism and discover it’s creative potential.

OS X Touch Screen iPod Confirmation

Digitimes is now saying Wintek, a Taiwan-based company will be the supplier of the upcoming iPod touch screen panel similar to the one used in the Apple iPhone. Wintek has declined any comment due to customer confidentiality but supplier sources upstream from Wintek have confirmed this statement.

Estimated iPod touch screen panel shipping date from Wintek is expected in the second half of 2007 according to sources.

It is also expected to see a similar iPhone type OS X on the to-be-releases iPod, Steve Jobs stated during a town hall meeting with Apple Employees that his Mac OS X division has been working not only with the iPhone interface but also the iPod interface. The question remains, will this new OS X based touch screen iPod share similar features with the iPhone?

Control Your PC From an iPhone

Here's a free way to control your PC from an iPhone, thanks to Nate True at cre.ations.net. Using TightVNC, software that lets you remotely control your PC desktop (sorry, it's not Mac-friendly yet), he's made a couple of simple changes that let you use the iPhone's touchscreen interface to control your PC from afar. Here's how it works:

It's just a matter of downloading a few files, extracting them and running them on your PC, setting a default password and then typing your computer's IP address into your iPhone in Safari's address bar. Suddenly your iPhone can left and right click, scroll up and down, enter text and drag-and-drop stuff on your PC's desktop, using your iPhone's touchscreen, zoomerific interface.

The downsides? You might have to configure your router to forward port 5800. We also noticed you're going to need to do lots of zooming on that desktop, because that text looks awfully small on the iPhone screen. Even so, this looks like tons of fun, and we intend to try it. Download the files at the link below, and let us know about your results.

iPhone is awarded a five star rating

"Apple has succeeded in crafting a unique phone that is superior [to] everything else on the market, remarks Stuff.tv. In one great leap Apple has rewritten the rules for mobile web browsing, invented a completely new touch-sensitive interface, and evolved the iPod. In the hand, the iPhone oozes sexiness; its wide, high-resolution screen is encircled by a halo of chrome and wrapped on its back side by cool brushed metal. When you hold it, it's thinner and lighter than pictures would suggest: it feels like you are holding the future. And Stuff.tv awarded iPhone a five star rating.

There are non-confirmed reports that there is to be an upgrade for the Apple iPhone in the coming months. Many people have been staying away from the iPhone, as they know that there are a few problems, but this new upgrade which is reportedly coming is said to solve most of the problems.

The upgrade will be released before the Mac OS X upgrade, which is being called Leopard, some might even be released in the coming weeks, but the best feature upgrades are due by Fall. Some updates come in the way of disk mode which is great for transferring computer files, there is to be a full-fledged file browser, this will allow users to store and also open documents as well.

The new Leopard release will also have some features specific for the iPhone, such as opening an enhanced file window in Finder for dragging files from one device to another. If music is your thing then then you as a user will be able to set aside a certain amount of flash storage for iTunes.
